Congratulations to our newest scholarship recipients and to all  Graduating Seniors in the Class of 2009!

The William D. Squires Educational Foundation is a small non-profit family foundation, created solely to offer financial need-based scholarships to students only from Ohio.

Although The William D. Squires Scholarship is primarily a financial need-based scholarship,  applicants must also have a specific career goal and be highly motivated.  The Scholarship Selection Committee also considers the student's academic promise.   A minimum 3.2 GPA is required.

12 scholarships have just been awarded to the Class of 2009.  The award is $3,000 and is renewable up to 3 additional years for a total of up to $12,000.

We would like to thank all applicants for taking the time to apply for the William D. Squires Scholarship.   Every year we wish we could offer more scholarships.  There are always so many deserving candidates.

The foundation has just past a milestone.   With the addition of 12 new recipients, we are very proud to announce that a total of 150 William D. Squires Scholarships have been awarded since The Foundation began in 1999.

There will be 46 scholarship recipients attending 31 different colleges during  the 2009-2010 school year.  Recipients must be from Ohio but may attend schools outside of Ohio.
To view a complete list of recipients and the schools they are attending, follow Recipients.

Recipients are selected on an objective and non-discriminatory basis without regard to race, color, religion or gender.

William D. Squires was the Foundation's donor.  What a wonderful legacy.  Many people assume that William passed away prior to the Foundation's inception.  He actually witnessed the initial phases, the selection process, and even the graduation of our first recipients from the Class of 2000.  To learn more about Mr. Squires and The William D. Squires Educational Foundation, see
About the Foundation.

Many of the recipients of The William D. Squires Scholarship have told us that it has made a huge difference.  Sometimes the scholarship is the deciding factor between which school to attend.  Sometimes it simply means more study time and less work.  It is truly a joy to help them  follow their dreams.

We hope to continue awarding scholarships for many years.

Good luck to all seniors in the Class of 2009
and may all your dreams come true!
